What is Leadership Hollywood?

An Interactive Program

Leadership Hollywood provides an interactive program where participants can view our community up close, work together and achieve a unique knowledge of resources and services available in Hollywood, Broward County and the State of Florida. Each scheduled day provides an interactive forum through interface and communication with the current leaders in our community. All activities include maximum class member involvement, participation and role playing. A class member will experience the process that guides him/her to better comprehend the challenges facing our community. Leadership Hollywood is an organized curriculum for our community’s future leaders.

Sessions include touring facilities and speaking to experts in the following areas:

Legislative Process
State Government*
County Government
Environment
Community service
Judicial system

Economic development
Healthcare
Social Services
Cultural Arts
Education
Tourism

*Optional trip to Tallahassee

An Introduction to City Officials and Community Leaders

By virtue of taking part in the various sessions, participants meet key members of the community, region and state. From city officials to county administrators, legislative leaders and possibly the state’s governor or other cabinet members, Leadership Hollywood provides class members with an opportunity to present their concerns and voice their questions– face-to-face.

What the Future Holds

A graduate of Leadership Hollywood may go on to become integral players in the business arena. Some choose politics, serving as judges, mayors, or commissioners. Others go on to be the leadership of non-profit organizations. The Leadership Hollywood program provides participants with the knowledge to lead in their community.

Selection Criteria:

When selecting candidates, the Leadership Hollywood Steering committee focuses special attention to cultivating a diverse cross-section of the community in terms of ethnic background, age, sex and profession. Criteria for selection includes:

The ability to set and achieve goals
Commitment to the community
Potential to impact the area, region or state
Alumni involvement with the program

Those selected must have a willingness to invest the time required for active participation in the program.

Attendance

Participants of Leadership Hollywood are required to attend the initial Kick-Off Orientation days and all scheduled sessions; only absences approved in advance will be permitted. Participation in the graduation ceremony is required.

Sessions are generally scheduled once or twice monthly from October through May, culminating with a graduation ceremony held in June.

Tuition

The Fee for participation in Leadership Hollywood Class XXXIII is $595.00 for chamber members and $695.00 for non-members. The fee includes virtually all program costs with the exception of the optional three-day/two-night Tallahassee trip. Total tuition payment is due prior to Kick Off Day.
